Elizabeth Miller, education reporter with OPB, dug into the Invent Oregon Collegiate Challenge's role in solving community problems through invention in her story about the kickoff of the 2020 season.
Juan Barraza, director of student innovation and manager of InventOR talked about the ways in which students develop as they tackle prototyping and business development while addressing needs they see in their own communities. “They’re acquiring skill sets that otherwise would’ve taken a lot more time for them to learn, or they need to take an extra course at school to be able to acquire those skills,” Barraza said.
