Invent Oregon COVID-19 Program Updates and Changes

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

Dear InventOR students, faculty, and supporters:

In response to recent COVID-19-related school closures, delays, and adjusted schedules, we are extending the Invent Oregon competition timeline. This allows our team time to adjust our programing to provide student teams with adequate preparation time and support. Our top priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff and to comply with all recommendations for social distancing. For this reason, all events unless indicated below will be hosted virtually. Please see below for new competition dates and additional information.

  • Preliminary school competitions - See the calendar below for updated preliminary school competition dates. We will update these as information becomes available. Most school competition dates will be postponed until May (unless otherwise noted) but must be held on or prior to June 12.

Semifinals - Semifinals will be hosted virtually Thursday and Friday, June 25-26

  • Bootcamp - The in-person boot camp is canceled. We are currently developing virtual and online content to support teams through the competition, but will not be hosting an in-person bootcamp this year. More details to come soon.

  • Invent Oregon finals - Will be hosted in-person September 17-18 in Medford, Oregon at Rogue Community College.

    • This event is scheduled to be in-person but is subject to change

In this time of rapid change, we believe a program like Invent Oregon, which supports students as they imagine and then actually develop solutions to pressing problems, is more necessary than ever. We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns to Yesenia Gallardo Avila, Program Manager at ygalla2@pdx.edu.

Thank you,

The Invent Oregon Team
