Medical innovation often starts with empathy — and the team behind CompressEase from Oregon Health & Science University understands that deeply.
Brenda LaVigne, Terrisa Gardner, Cheri Richtenburg, and Greg Richtenburg developed a more comfortable, automated compression therapy system for patients dealing with circulation issues.
Traditional compression devices can be frustrating and restrictive, but CompressEase offers a flexible, user-friendly alternative that prioritizes mobility, independence, and comfort.
The team’s background in healthcare gave them first-hand insight into the challenges patients face. That perspective fueled their mission to design a solution that not only improves circulation but also restores confidence and dignity in daily life.

🎥 Our Invent Oregon crew followed the OHSU team through the development process — from early sketches to working prototypes — to show how human-centered design can truly change lives.
